Scenic Portage Rafting

Take in the views of vast mountain peaks, alpine glaciers and lush forests as we float down Portage River from Portage Lake. Your guide will interpret the glaciated landscape as you sit back and relax keeping your eyes peeled for wildlife. Portage Valley boasts a healthy population of black bear, moose, eagles and even an elusive wolf pack. Later in summer, salmon spawn in the clear creeks enriching the entire valley with nutrients. Enjoy a hot beverage and snack floating down the river with your small group. This is an accessible Alaskan adventure for all (not whitewater) and great for ages 2-102. Tour time is 3hrs from Girdwood meet. We love the morning time on the river, but you can choose a 9am, 11am, 1pm or 3pm departure. Ask us how to add guaranteed wildlife to your tour!

Location

We are located in Girdwood, Alaska approximately 35 miles south of Anchorage on the corner of the New Seward and Alyeska Highways. Take the New Seward Highway “1” south out of Anchorage to mile marker 90. Girdwood is the biggest town you will come to after leaving Anchorage. You will see signs for Girdwood and the Alyeska Resort. Turn left (the only left into town) onto the Alyeska Highway and then make an immediate right into the Tesoro Gas Station & Mini-mall. There are several shops attached to the gas station. Our shop is the Great Alaskan Tourist Trap located next to the Ice Cream Shop. Its an upscale gift shop with a humorous twist. This is where we will, “Suit ya and boot ya”
